Nursultan, Kazakhstan – The summit of Heads of state of the Turkish Council was held online on 31 March 2921, hosted by Kazakhstan. The summit was attended by the noble members Kazakhstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, as well as the observer members Hungary and Turkmenistan. At the summit, the founding president of Kazakhstan, the honorary president of the Turkish Council Nursultan Nazarbayev, once again raised his frequently stated thoughts on the Union of languages and alphabets. He touched on the importance of using the Latin alphabet to deepen cooperation in addition to humanitarian and cultural development. It highlighted mutual trade and investment.

Such summits matter. Valuable in the context of cooperation and institutionalization. It is also instructive, as it allows us to see important differences in approach.

First, when we talk about the Turkic world, as a state, we commemorate Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the TRNC. In short, the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries, called the Turkish Council or Turkish Keneşi, was established in 2009 and is now the roof Organization of the Turkic world. But Turkmenistan, despite persistent calls, did not become a member, preferring to be an observer. Hungary’s attitude is pleasing.

Second, the Turkic world does not support Turkey enough about the recognition of the TRNC and Azerbaijan enough about Nagorno-Karabakh. This is a significant shortcoming. Turkey also does not have a comprehensive, holistic Turkish world policy.

Third, the Turkic world is important in terms of Eurasian geography, as well as its own importance and feature. Because Eurasia is the most important region in the world from a geopolitical, strategic and economic point of view. It’s a tough field to fight. The goal of imperialism. In recent years, the center of gravity of world politics has shifted from the west to the East, from the Atlantic to Eurasia to the Pacific. In Eurasia, the Turkish republics have a special, important, original position.

Fourth, Turkey, besides being a Eurasian country, is the most powerful, deep-rooted and large state among the Turkish States. Its historical and cultural ties with the Caucasus and Central Asia, with the geography of Turkestan, are strong. It should make it stronger. Its economic and trade ties are weak. It cannot be said that Turkey knows and knows the Turkish world well. He’s not interested in closely. The number of experts and institutions working on this issue is also small.

Fifth, if the Turkic world can increase its specific gravity, it will have wide opportunities to be effective in Eurasia and to create a center of gravity. For this purpose, first of all, it is necessary for the Turkish states to form a strong union, develop sustainable models of cooperation, and take a common position on the main issues. It is necessary to know the policies of Russia and China, which have a large Muslim and Turkish population; Iran, which is closely interested in the region; the United States, whose imperialist projects for the region are known, regarding Turkey and the Turkish world. Turkey; if it leads, takes initiative, develops strong strategies, follows a comprehensive and realistic Eurasian policy, both Turkey and the Turkic world will benefit.

Sixth, the concept of the Turkic world; historical, political, social, cultural, geographical, ethnological dimensions extend to very old periods. Apart from the Orkhun inscriptions, the first Turkish text in which the Turkish name, the name of the Turkish nation, known as the first alphabet of the Turks, there is a history of at least 1300 years in terms of written documents. If it is taken into account before the written period, it is taken back 5 thousand years. In the Turkic World, common language and Alphabet efforts have a roughly 150-year history. Yakuts; the first Turkish society to switch to the Latin alphabet, they used the Latin alphabet between 1917 and 1933. After the first Congress of Turkology convened in 1926 in Baku, Azerbaijan switched to the Latin alphabet in 1929. In 1928, Turkey adopted Latin letters with the letter Revolution.

As a result, the Turkic world is a concept that, although politically old, is especially and often used after the Cold War. When the Cold War ended and the USSR disbanded, Turkey was unprepared for developments. It’s been 30 years. The sentimentality of the early days dissipated. The facts are better understood. In the past 30 years, Turkish states have also gotten to know each other better. They saw more clearly the sameness, similarities, differences between them. For this reason, it is necessary that the strategies related to the Turkish world are based on reason and science, sit on a realistic basis, and observe the balances of the region. Because the inability to say big words and do what is necessary also damages the existing reputation and reputation.
