The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources reported that the return of the Oruç Reis seismic research ship to the port in Turkey is a routine activity that occurs with monthly periods.
In a statement on the Ministry’s Twitter account, the Oruç Reis ship began seismic exploration and research activities at the Demre-1 location in the Mediterranean Sea on August 10.
The ship has collected 3 thousand 525 kilometers of seismic data at this site so far, the statement recorded, the following statements were given:
“Oruç Reis, according to its working principle, returns to the port once a month for planned maintenance, personnel change and subsequent mission preparations. Returning the ship to port for replenishment and maintenance with monthly periods is always a routine activity that it performs. The ship will continue seismic exploration and research activities after resupply and maintenance operations.”
The statement also stated that Turkey continues its exploration and drilling activities in the Mediterranean based on international law, and that Yavuz and Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha ships continue their activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.
