Baku, Azerbaijan – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said they were ready to stop the ongoing conflicts with Armenia.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev expressed their readiness to stop the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, provided Armenia withdraws its troops from the occupied territories.

“The faster the war ends, the better. I have said many times, I can repeat once again… if the Prime Minister of Armenia (Nikol Pashinyan) takes responsibility for leaving the other remaining territories, we are ready to stop the war today. He has not yet taken on this responsibility,” he said.

Aliyev stated that according to the basic principles of the UNSC resolutions, 5 regions should be saved first, and then 2 more.

“Armenia does not want the war to end”

Aliyev, ” we unilaterally saved 4 regions. For this reason, Pashinyan should explain that the troops in the areas of Agdam, Kelbajar, Lachin, which continue to be occupied, will be withdrawn, but he himself does not make such a statement. This shows that he does not want the war to end,” he said.

Pashinyan had earlier claimed to Al Arabiya television that Yerevan was ready to negotiate a solution to the crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, but that Azerbaijan had not made concessions.
