Budapest, Hungary – Hungarian Minister of foreign affairs and Foreign Trade Peter Szijjarto announced that his country supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
At a joint press conference with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, who is on an official visit to Hungary, Szijjarto made statements on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and on Turkey-European Union (EU) relations.
Noting that they support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, Szijjarto said: “We support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan under international law. We hope that a continuation will be achieved in the negotiations of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group of the organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE).”
“The EU clearly sets out the conditions for countries that want to get visa exemptions.” said Szijjarto, who also evaluated German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s statement that the issue of visa liberalization will be discussed between the EU and Turkey in December. I think a visa exemption should be provided when a country meets the requirements. But even if it meets the conditions, the conditions should not be put forward in vain to countries that are considered not to be granted a visa exemption. In the same way, we should not offer additional conditions to countries that meet all conditions. That’s not true., “he said.
