Ankara, Turkey – The first stage of the competition organized by the presidential Defense Industry presidency (SSB) with the participation of micro-scale companies and SMEs within the scope of herd UAV technology development and Demonstration Project was completed.
According to the presidency, 26 companies have applied for the comprehensive Phase-1 Stage-1 competition of fixed-wing herd UAV target detection and destruction mission-pre-programmed arm flight in an open environment. Support was provided to companies that met the necessary qualifications by meeting the cost of developing technologies. A large number of companies participated in the flight tests conducted at the Kalecik UAV Test Center and demonstrated their capabilities.
President of the presidential Defense Industry Ismail Demir, in a statement, stressed that the Turkish defense industry has achieved very important achievements for UAVs in recent years.
Pointing out that national and domestic UAVs used by security forces are among the leading systems of their class in the world, Demir stated that they are constantly working to develop the Turkish defense industry technologically and to obtain new technologies.
Demir noted that the use of unmanned systems with the herd concept significantly increases the level of protection of friendly elements, firepower, precise destruction of targets, intelligence, observation and reconnaissance capabilities and capabilities:
While our tactical class UAVs perform important tasks at the point of serving as a herd, we have launched The Herd UAV technology development and Demonstration Project in order to gain the capabilities of our micro-scale companies and SMEs in this area and strengthen the ecosystem in herd UAV technology. With herd UAV technology development and Demonstration Project, we aim to develop algorithms and software for the use of unmanned platforms in herd concept by micro-scale companies and SMEs.
As part of the project, we organized a competition consisting of four phases. We conducted the first phase of the first phase at the Kalecik UAV Test Center. As we see the excitement and perseverance of our companies, our hope and faith increases. I believe that our companies participating in this competition will make a significant contribution to the defense of our country with UAVs that they will develop at a more advanced level.
Fixed wing herd UAV target detection and destruction mission in open environment-pre-programmed arm flight companies that have successfully completed comprehensive Phase-1 Stage-1 flight tests will continue their development and production activities within the scope of the project with Phase-2 surveillance and Mission transfer. Phase 1’s three and fourth phases will consist of close-range reconnaissance, target detection and far-range reconnaissance, target detection and destruction by dropping off the carrier platform with destruction.
Phase-2: rotary wing herd UAV Navigation mission in closed environment, Phase-3: fixed/rotary wing herd UAV disposal Mission, Phase-4: fixed/rotary wing UAV and HRA herd mission stages will be performed in open and closed environment.
