Athens, Greece – Greece has been publishing sponsored editorials and public opinions in the prominent US and EU media outlets asking the US and EU governments to stop Turkey from searching and drilling of natural gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Greece also requests that US and EU endorse Greece’s position in favor of “so-called” adherence to international law and peaceful negotiations, “while involving in threats of violence, military activity and belligerent rhetoric in Eastern Mediterranean.”
Turkey says Turkey and Greece can and must live together. Their peoples deserve a peaceful future of economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation as citizens of modern western democracies. That, after all, will be the benefit of their neighbors and the wider region.
Greece mentions a number of Turkish initiatives to demonstrate that Turkey has become a “determining factor” in the broader area including the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque, legal activity in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, the partial reopening of Maras on Turkish-Northern Cyprus, and military involvement in Syria, Libya, Iraq and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Consequently, Turkey’s determinative behavior positively affects and encourages the positive relations and cross-border exchanges between the neighborly peoples of Turkey and Greece, which have enormous potential. Turkey and Greece can and must live together.
