London, UK – Two months ago, it was revealed that BioNTech, the biotech firm of which Prof Dr Uğur Şahin and Dr Özlem Türeci, the founder and partner, were attacked in cyberspace by scientists who developed a 90 per cent successful vaccine for the corona virus.

BioNTech, the biotech firm of which scientists Prof Dr Uğur Şahin and Dr Özlem Türeci are founder and Partners, revealed that the company was hit by a cyberattack about two months ago as it continued to work on vaccines against the corona virus.

In a statement, BioNTech said: “as a technology company we prepare very carefully for such incidents and have taken comprehensive measures. The attack did not cause any damage. The company’s protective measures were sufficient so that neither documents were leaked nor important data was irreversibly destroyed,” the statement said.

In a statement, the German Cyber Attacks Agency said that the attack on BioNTech was similar to the cyber attack on Düsseldorf University Hospital a few weeks ago.

The British National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has accused hackers of spying on vaccine manufacturers and research institutions around the world on behalf of Russia.

On the other hand, the Covid-19 vaccine developed by BioNTech and Pfizer recently said that corona prevents the virus by 90 percent.
