Ankara, Turkey – Competition Board, as a result of the investigation conducted on Google, 196 million 708 thousand 54.78 lira administrative fine was ordered.

The investigation into Google advertising and Marketing Ltd, Google International LLC, Google LLC, Google Ireland Limited and Alphabet Inc for “abusing its dominant position in the general search market” has been completed.

Accordingly, the Competition Board concluded November 12, 2020, that Google “violated the Competition Protection Act No. 4054 by complicating its activities in the content services market of organic results that do not bring it advertising revenue by placing text ads on top of the overall search results, the advertising quality of which is unclear and intense.”

In this context, the board decided to impose an administrative fine of 196 million 708 thousand 54.78 lira on the enterprise in question.
